Why Did 1,000 People Attend The Funeral Of This Man They’ve Never Met?

story

Billy C. Aldridge died in an Indianapolis nursing home in October. The Marine veteran didn’t have any family members who came and claimed his body. But the people of Indianapolis stepped up to provide Aldridge with a proper funeral.

Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services posted an invitation to Alridge’s funeral on Facebook. The response was overwhelming. Over 1,000 people attended. They had to move the funeral from the funeral home to the church to accommodate all the community. Even with the added space, there was standing room only.

Brigadier General Stewart Goodwin (Ret.), executive director of the Indiana War Memorials, gave the eulogy. Mr. Aldridge was buried with military honors at Memorial Park.
