Actress Gives Performance Of Her Life After Receiving This Tragic Family News

My heart goes out to Vanessa and her family. My prayers will be with them. God Bless you all with courage and strength at this difficult time, have peace that the is with our Heavenly Father.

From CBS News:

Vanessa Hudgens’ father passed away the evening before “Grease: Live” but you would never have known it from the actress’ strong performance on Sunday night.

Hudgens tweeted on Sunday that her father had died from cancer the night before.

“I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers.”

She continued and made it very clear that the show would go on: “Tonight, I do the show in his honor,” she tweeted.

Then, Hudgens jumped into character as Betty Rizzo for “Grease: Live” and performed a show-stopping rendition of “There are Worse Things I Could Do.”

At the end of the broadcast, the show aired a dedication to her father in the credits that read, “In loving memory of Greg Hudgens.”

Her friends poured their condolences and praise for Hudgens performance in Grease. Here are just a few of the tweets that showered Vanessa with support:

Here’s the video report:

I must admit, I was ready to “hate watch” Grease Live! It’s been on of those favorite musicals I feel will never be as good as the original. I didn’t know about the Hudgens story before the show but I had heard of her a few years ago on some kiddie shows.

Man, I couldn’t have been more off base. It was excellent and Vanessa Hudgens stole the show. I honestly think she deserves an Emmy for that performance. She completely nailed it from start to finish.

Did you get to watch Grease? What do you think about this story and how this young lady persevered?
