A few days after an attempted coup in Turkey, one of their neighbors (and another one of our allies) had to fight back a government overthrow.
A group of armed men have taken control of a police station in Armenia’s capital Yerevan, prompting rumours to spread on social media that a coup is under way against the government.
One officer has been killed and two people have been wounded during the takeover.
Security services are negotiating with the men who have taken hostages and reportedly demanded the release of opposition leader and military commander Jirair Sefilian who was arrested in June while campaigning for regime change.
It does seem like it was stopped before anything serious happened, however. The world is in serious chaos right now. What will it take for all of us to take a pause and come together? Hopefully nothing worse.
