A 20-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly kicking her boyfriend’s 17-month-old son to death.
Alicia Goemaat, from West Seattle, Washington, is accused in the death of Drue Lehto, whom she was looking after as his dad, Derek, ran errands on September 27.
Derek’s mother, Maria Blanco, told INSIDE EDITION that her son is in shock.
“He just keeps crying, ‘She killed my little boy! She killed my little boy!'” she said. “We knew the baby as being a healthy, happy little guy. We’re in a state of disbelief.”
She said that on September 27, Goemaat kicked Drue in the stomach, knocking him to the ground, according to reports. She reportedly said she kicked him again before putting him in his playpen, where he was later found unresponsive.
After the boy’s father had arrived home, he tried to administer CPR but the child passed away before medical staff arrived, according to Seattle PI. An autopsy found that he died of abdominal trauma and internal bleeding, and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.
Goemaat denied knowing what happened to him until she was arrested days later, on October 1, according to reports.
This is why parents have got to stop leaving their children with strangers, lovers, or whomever. That beautiful little boy lost his life because he was left with a sadistic demon. I hope she rots in hell for what she did to that poor baby. Again, people, do not leave your children with your lover or stranger. If you have to leave, take the children with you. At least you will know that they are safe with you, and not being tortured or killed by a maniac.
I hope she gets the maximum sentencing. As word gets around the prison, and it will say that she is a baby killer, she’ll learn what it is to be defenseless and helpless.
It’s a tragedy that this happened to a loving family and sweet little innocent boy.
My God, the fear and pain he must have felt. She knew right from wrong and made the choice she did because she most likely didn’t like the little guy being around since he was not hers. What do you think should happen? Share your comments below and add this to your facebook/twitter timeline.
