Fox Business host Charles Gasparino has just reported that donors close to Marco Rubio want the Florida Senator to drop out of the presidential race before next Tuesday’s primary unless polling improves drastically.
From Real Clear Politics:
Top Marco Rubio donors say they want to see him suspend his campaign before the Florida primary, if his poll numbers do not improve. The Senator’s internal polls continue to show him trailing Trump in his home state of Florida.
“What I’m hearing from [Rubio’s] money-men here in New York City — They’re saying barring some better polling… he will likely suspend before Florida. That’s what his money-men here in New York City are telling me,” Fox Business Network contributor Charles Gasparino reported Wednesday afternoon.
“The feeling is despair,” in the Rubio campaign he said. “We talk about paths to victory. This is what his guys are saying: They don’t see a path to victory and they think it’s better to get out sooner rather than later.”
“Now, he may hold on — he may see some poll later in the week,” he explained. “They haven’t hit [Trump] with all their attack ads yet, totally. But as of right now, if this thing doesn’t change, we should be checking this daily to make sure we are first with the story of him dropping.”
“Wow, it really is the money guys calling the shots, isn’t it,” comments host Stuart Varney.
