Bono, the world-famous lead singer for the band U2, is also a outspoken liberal and he has just revealed his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election.
Speaking with CBS News’ Charlie Rose, Bono let it be known that he is no fan of Donald Trump, calling him “potentially the worst idea that ever happened to America.”
Bono’s comments came after the musician rightly observed that “America is like the best idea the world ever came up with” before he tore into the Republican presidential nominee.
Bono pointed to nations like Ireland and Great Britain as great countries but suggested that America is different because it’s an idea, one that Trump is “trying to hijack.”
“That idea is banded up in justice and equality for all — equality and justice for all, you know,” he continued. “I think he’s hijacked the party. I think he’s trying to hijack the idea of America. And I think it’s bigger than all of us. I think it’s — it’s — this is really dangerous.”
Do you think celebrities like Bono should keep their political opinions to themselves? Does America really care what a musician thinks about our presidential election, especially one that wasn’t even born in this country? Share your thoughts with us below!
