Just days after Obama’s Justice Department refused to hold Lois Lerner accountable for targeting conservative groups for their political views, IRS commissioner John Koskinen has learned he might not get away with his crimes so easily.
Specifically, a resolution has been introduced by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to have Koskinen impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Via the Daily Caller:
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee introduced a resolution on Tuesday to impeach IRS commissioner John Koskinen for high crimes and misdemeanors.
The move comes days after the Justice Department announced that it would not be charging any IRS employees involved in a massive scandal in which conservative non-profit groups seeking tax-exempt status were unfairly targeted.
The former director of the agency’s exemptions unit, Lois Lerner, was also let off the hook.
Chaired by Republican Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz , the Oversight Committee asserts that Koskinen, who took over the agency in Dec. 2013, failed to comply with a subpoena resulting in destruction of key evidence, that he failed to notify Congress of missing evidence, and that he failed to testify truthfully while providing false and misleading information.
You can read the actual resolution to impeach the IRS commissioner here.
Koskinen has been ripped repeatedly for his mis-handling of the investigation into Lois Lerner, which if you’ll recall, included destroying two-years worth of emails she had used to communicate with outside agencies such as the White House and Justice Department.
Paul Ryan previously told a testifying Koskinen that his problem is “nobody believes you!”
Now that he’s facing impeachment, will his serious lack of credibility come back to haunt him?
Somebody needs to pay a price for political targeting that you’d expect to see in a dictatorship, not here in the United States.
Comment: Will the IRS commissioner actually be impeached, or is he just another Obama crony who will skate?
