It’s been approximately 2 weeks since Donald Trump all but secured the Republican nomination for president and all eyes have been on Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s next move.
Well, since returning from the Senate, Cruz will already be taking a week off from his job.
Ted Cruz is taking some time off from the Senate to recover from a brutal presidential campaign.
After returning to Washington last week to work on a defense policy bill, the Texas senator is spending this week back home. He’ll miss votes on Zika funding legislation as well as appropriations bills
“After several months of a nonstop schedule, Sen. Cruz is taking some downtime this week with Heidi and the girls. He looks forward to returning to the Senate next week,” said Phil Novack, a spokesman for Cruz.
The Republican senator dropped out of the presidential race earlier this month. He has not endorsed Donald Trump and could run for president again in 2020 if Trump loses the general election.
Cruz said last week he plans to run for reelection in 2018.
