Have you ever been fed up with people texting while walking, unaware of their surroundings, and almost walking into you?
A neighborhood in the city of Chongquing in China decided that this problem was so annoying, a separate walking lane was needed for those using cell phones.
A 165-foot stretch of sidewalk now has two lanes with labels; one reads “no cell phones,” and the other reads “walk at your own risk.”
So far, pedestrians have been ignoring the lanes, but many people have been snapping pictures of the signs.
Is this a brilliant solution to an annoying problem, or a useless attempt to change behavior?
