An Iraq War Veteran received a surprise when he returned to his car after shopping and found a nasty note on his windshield attacking his service to our country. The coward who wrote the note even criticized the veteran for earning a Purple Heart. And there was a wish for the veteran.
“I see you have a purple heart sticker and Iraq war veteran sticker. It’s too bad that you were only wounded, the world would be better if you were killed. All of you Islamaphobes vets deserve to die!”
News10 spoke with Lt. Steven Stockdale from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Stockdale said the veteran wanted to remain anonymous. The law enforcement officer said it is illegal to leave a note like this on someone’s car and that it is a chicken-hearted thing to do.
“Communication these days has gotten very easy for people who want to stay anonymous,” he said. “And it takes a lot more courage to strap on an 80 pound pack and go to the Middle East and fight for your country than it does to scribble on a note and leave it cowardly behind on somebody’s windshield.”
This is reminiscent to the treatment Vietnam Veterans received from leftists after returning home. The sheriff has reported that these types of situations have been occurring throughout the state of New York.
