Hillary Clinton relies on Hollywood leftists and musicians to help fund her out-of-touch campaign but there’s one celebrity that refused to endorse the Democrat.
Newly leaked emails reveals that country music star Darius Rucker, previously of the band Hootie and the Blowfish, openly rejected Ms. Clinton’s request that he endorse her.
According to The Daily Caller, “One of the leaked emails revealed how she [Hillary Clinton] and a man named John Sykes tried to get Michelle Kwan to convince Rucker — famously known as “Hootie” — to publicly endorse Clinton.”
The article goes on to note the lengths Ms. Clinton and her allies went to get the support of Rucker:
“Anything you can do try to get him to the rally that HRC is doing next Friday in Columbia,” Marshall wrote an email to Kwan. “They have Charlie Wilson — but we need him!”
“I spent two weeks talking to Scott,” Kwan wrote, “and at the end Darius is just not ready to endorse or help. He’s actually in Columbia next week but won’t do anything — ugh!!!!! And, I’m chipping away at your list 🙂 Thank you!
Rucker should be commended for not caving to Mrs. Clinton’s demands like so many in Hollywood. Given that millions of his fans are likely conservative, Rucker was wise to not endorse Mrs. Clinton as it would have likely alienated him from his audiences.
