Following the RNC, Jon Stewart appeared on Stephen Colbert’s new show to deliver a message to Donald Trump supporters that ended up going viral. “You don’t own patriotism” he told us.
If only he waited until after the DNC started, he would’ve realized that apparently we do. American flags were to be seen everywhere you went, displayed on the main stage, and carried by countless attendees. The exact opposite was the case at the DNC. There wasn’t a single American flag on the main stage, nor were there any visible in the crowd. You could see a Palestinian flag and USSR flag – which clearly shows how far-left the Party has become.
After much public outrage and criticism, the DNC is in damage control mode.
After slogging through a boisterous convention on the floor, Democrats were forced to make a last-minute adjustment to the on-stage decor, after a report pointed out there were no American flags present.
There wasn’t a single American flag onstage – notwithstanding the fact that most of the speakers were lawmakers, who each have Capitol offices festooned with flags and other patriotic ware.
It was an aesthetic contrast to the GOP convention, which was draped in patriotic imagery. There were no fewer than 36 American flags on stage at the time of Donald Trump’s convention speech last Thursday.
The flag’s absence wasn’t mostly escaped notice, even as Democrats opened the proceedings with both the pledge of allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner, which celebrates the missing flag.
But after the Daily Caller reported on the unusual absence, an official was observed wheeling flags onto the stage Tuesday.
