A Deputy In Danger Saved By A Concealed Carry Combat Veteran — This Was A LIFE CHANGER!

A Texas Sheriff’s Deputy is alive today thanks to a quick acting Marine combat veteran and his concealed carry handgun.

I’m alive today because of him,” the deputy, 23-year-old Bastrop County Sheriff’s Deputy Dylan Dorris told reporters. “There are no words to explain it. He’s such an outstanding citizen. He’s here for our country, our community and you really feel the love.”

It started simply enough when Deputy Dorris tried to pull over Kenton DeSean Fryer, 32, on suspicion of DUI with a minor in the car, after seeing the vehicle swerve erratically. After a brief chase, Fryer pulled into a gas station.

When Dorris attempted a field sobriety test, Fryer attacked.

As the deputy struggled, Scott Perkins, a Marine with two tours of duty in Iraq saw the attack, drew his handgun and approached.

“Freeze!” Perkins yelled as he drew his concealed handgun, taking aim at the suspect & immediately stopping the fight.

For his part, Perkins refuses to accept that he’s a hero.

“Anytime somebody is in need of help you should assist them. It doesn’t matter whether your life is in danger or not, you should always assist anybody who is in need,” Perkins said.

“I think it’s important to note, with the uproar that we have on gun laws, that had Mr. Perkins not had his concealed gun on him, that suspect would have likely not paid attention to him,” Bastrop County sheriff spokeswoman Sissy Jones said. “This is a situation where being a license to carry holder truly did save a life.”

Fryer now faces charges of aggravated assault of a public servant, taking an officer’s weapon, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and driving while under the influence with a child under 15.
