When country music ICON Dolly Parton teamed up with music superstar Katy Perry to sing some of her greatest hits at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night fans were stunned and shocked.
Perry is known as a pop singer, but she showed range and blended well with and held her own with Parton. It was awesome seeing these two women perform together!
Here is the performance:
From USA Today:
Katy Perry paid tribute to one of her idols at the Academy of Country Music Awards (CMAs) Sunday night and became one member of our new favorite BFFs.
“Y’all finally got me in boots,” Perry joked. And some boots they were. The pop star went for a full country costume, complete with giant star earrings and fringe by designer Jeremy Scott.
In addition to over-the-top outfits, Perry alluded to other similarities between herself and the legendary country artist.
“We’re both known for some of the biggest…songs in our field.”
While accepting the Tex Ritter Award for her television movie, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, Parton laughed about her true-to-form bedazzled ensemble.
“I had to do something to overcome all those long-leg women I’m with around here.”
Cue the Jolene duet we’ve been waiting for since the announcement was made a few weeks ago.
