While Donald Trump has yet to announce who he plans as naming as his vice presidential pick, the Republican nominee has made it clear who he thinks Hillary Clinton should name as her running mate.
Trump, who doesn’t hold back when criticizing Clinton, said that the Democratic nominee should pick far-left Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren as her VP.
“Pocahontas is at it again! Goofy Elizabeth Warren, one of the least productive U.S. Senators, has a nasty mouth. Hope she is V.P. choice,” Trump tweeted Friday morning, hours after Warren assailed the presumptive Republican nominee during a speech at the American Constitution Society, first calling him a “thin-skinned racist” and continuing the “thin-skinned” taunt throughout her stemwinder.
Warren also called Trump “a loud, nasty thin-skinned fraud who has never risked anything for anyone and who serves no one but himself,” as well as a “small, insecure thin-skinned wannabe tyrant.”
Hillary Clinton told POLITICO on Thursday that Warren, who has been widely speculated to be in the running for the ticket, is “eminently qualified” to be her vice president. And Warren, after endorsing Clinton on The Rachel Maddow Show on Thursday night, said she agreed.
Trump has often referred to Warren as “Pocahontas,” citing the controversy around her 2012 Senate run over how she described her Native American heritage.
In March, Trump called her “the Indian” after Warren went on a tweetstorm, attacking the Republican candidate as a “loser” whose “insecurities are on parade: petty bullying, attacks on women, cheap racism, flagrant narcissism.”
Since then, Warren has periodically come to the defense of Clinton on Twitter while lambasting Trump, who answered one in early May by adding the “goofy” label to her name.
