Meet Keely Mullen. She is one of the organizers of the “Million Student March,” which is taking place across the country for students to demand, well, free stuff.
According to Mullen, here are their demands:
“So the three core demands of the national day of action are free public college, a cancellation of student debt, and a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage — um — for people who work on the campus.”
Of course, someone would have to pay the bill on such an endeavor. Mullen thinks that bill should be picked up by the rich.
When pushed by Fox Business’s Neil Cavuto, Mullen admits that she would be OK with the upper 1% of earners (she says at one point “definitely people making over $1 million per year”) paying 90% in taxes.
Cavuto says Mullen must be high if she thinks anyone, including her supporters, wants to pay a 90% tax rate.
According to CNN Money, to be in the top 1% of earners in the US, you only have to make $400,000 annually. At a 90% tax rate, that means you would be left with only $40,000 of your money. Someone making $60,000 and being taxed at a rate of 30% would end up with more money than the $400,000 earner according to Keely’s proposed 1% tax system.
What do you think about this young lady? She looks like she skipped some classes because her math is way off! Share your comments below.
