Florida Could Once Again Decide the Election After This Court Ruling

florida voter registration

Why do Americans wait until the last minute to register to vote? I will never understand that. I understand new voters and all but needing an extension is a bit too much if you want my opinion.

I am very solidly on the side of Florida Governor Rick Scott to not allow an extension for voter registration because of Hurricane Matthew when they had all year to do it. I am hesitant about any court ruling that would give more time for Democrats to lie cheat or steal. As we have witnessed over past elections, Democrats have a knack for finding names that were never there in first place.

From Newsmax:

Florida will allow its residents to register to vote through Wednesday after a federal judge ordered the state to extend the deadline because of Hurricane Matthew.

According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. District Court Judge Mark Walker said the one-day extension was necessary.

“It has been suggested that the issue of extending the voter registration deadline is about politics. Poppycock,” Walker wrote. “This case is about the right of aspiring eligible voters to register and to have their votes counted. Nothing could be more fundamental to our democracy.”

Gov. Rick Scott said last week he would not extend the deadline despite the hurricane, saying residents had plenty of time to become registered voters before the Nov. 8 election.

“Everybody has had a lot of time to register,” said Scott, a Republican. “On top of that, we have lots of opportunities to vote: early voting, absentee voting, Election Day. So I don’t intend to make any changes.”

Florida Democratic Party chairwoman Allison Tant was pleased with Walker’s decision.

“We are thrilled with today’s ruling and we look forward to making our case on Wednesday for extending the voter registration deadline to October 18,” Tant said, reports the Orlando Sentinel. “This is a win for the people of Florida.”

This is not about limiting citizens from voting. There’s a deadline, it was in place for an entire year or so. If you wanted to vote then you would have made it down to the station to register. There should be no excuses. This is just like a liberal to always want to move the goal post to get a chance to score.

What do you think about this decision by the Florida courts? Do you think the deadline should be extended or do you think they had enough time all year long to register to vote? Share your comments below and let me know what you think.
