Former Liberal Explains Why He Left the Left

Dave Rubin’s media career began as a progressive commentator on the far-Left network “The Young Turks.” TYT is the largest liberal channel on YouTube, boasting over three million followers.

Despite the massive reach that his show The Rubin Report received from the TYT’s network, being surrounded by radical leftists managed to turn him to the Right. Whether it be their constant labeling of everything they disagree with as racist, sexist, homophobia, transphobic, and Islamophobic, or the culture of trigger warnings and safe spaces on our college campuses, it’s clear to anyone paying attention that the Left has been unusually kooky as of late.

He left TYT and began independently hosting the Rubin Report, raising money from donations online to fund the show. He recently had Dennis Prager on his show – and in return, starred in a video for Prager University, explaining “Why I Left the Left.” Today, he identifies as a “classical liberal” – which is closer to libertarianism and conservativism than anything else (Milton Friedman, for instance, referred to his politics as being “liberal in the original sense).

“If you’re black, or female, or Muslim, or Hispanic or a member of any other minority group, you’re judged differently than the most evil of all things: a white, Christian male,” he says. “The regressive left ranks minority groups in a pecking order to compete in a kind of ‘Oppression Olympics.’ Gold medal goes to the most offended.”

What do you all think? It gives me hope. If he could see the Left for what it is – so can anyone else.
