A woman in North Texas, who is also a veteran, confronted the driver of a Hearse who left a flag-draped coffin in his car, holding the remains of either a military veteran, police officer, or firefighter.
The woman, identified as Tiffany Gallaway, confronted the driver when he returned to their car and recorded their encounter with her cell phone.
“Excuse me sir, is that a casket?” Galloway asked
“Uh, yes ma’am (laughs),” says the driver.
Gallaway: “Why are you grocery shopping at Walmart?”
Driver: “Well, because they dropped this thing on me and said I needed to get it, and I said, ‘Hey we’re loaded’ but I didn’t like the idea either.”
Gallaway: “This has got to be the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen in my life. I just want you to know that. This is absolutely horrible. That man died serving our country and you’re putting ice in a cooler.”
Driver: “You and I are in agreement. I didn’t want to do this in the first place.”
Gallaway: “I’m a veteran, and I would hope to God that when I pass…”
Driver: (Laughs at Galloway)
Gallaway: “that they would have a little more respect for me”
Driver: “ (Laughing) You mean you wouldn’t want to go shopping at Walmart?”
However, the funeral home where the driver worked confirmed to a local CBS affiliate that the driver was not authorized to make the stop and violated the company’s rules for transporting human remains between funeral stops.
The employee was reprimanded by the funeral home.
