I watched the first attempt by Congress and House Oversight Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz to bring in Hillary Clinton’s State Department IT guy, Bryan Pagliano, for questioning, even though he had immunity from the federal government. He chose not to show up.
Well, Congress asked for Pagliano again and he decided to ditch them again. This time, the House Oversight Committee voted to hold him in contempt of Congress Thursday.
Chaffetz said “Subpoenas are not optional,” and according to Elijah Cummings, Congress sent federal marshals with guns to serve him. Honestly, he has immunity anyway, so why not show up. Is he afraid his face will be seen to millions of viewers? Doesn’t make sense.
After a former IT aide to Hillary Clinton failed to show up for two congressional hearings in the last week, the House Oversight Committee voted to hold him in contempt of Congress Thursday.
Bryan Pagliano set up and helped maintain Clinton’s private email server during her time as secretary of state. He played a crucial role in the matter, and was even paid by the Clinton family for his work — separate from his paycheck as a Department of State IT worker.
Pagliano was given immunity in exchange for telling the government what he knew about Clinton’s email setup, but he was a no-show at an Oversight Committee hearing last week.
On Thursday, another hearing was held and he skipped that one as well. According to The Hill, that was the last straw for Republicans on the committee.
“Subpoenas are not optional,” said committees chairman Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican. “Mr. Pagliano is a crucial fact witness in this committee’s investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server to conduct government business.”
The measure will now go to the entire House floor for approval.
U.S. Marshals reportedly served Pagliano the orders to show up at the hearing.
“The committee could have sent a staffer in a coat and tie, but they sent federal marshals with guns,” ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings said. “This served no purpose but to harass and intimidate Mr. Pagliano.”
Congressman Chaffetz, you are one of our very few hopes in Congress. Please get with your coworkers and get this “swearing in of immigrants PUSH” stopped.
The crooked Obama administration is trying to tilt the election in the Democrats’ favor because Hillary is a crook. She should be in jail, NOT running for president. I hate to say it, but in order to have a level playing field, I believe conservatives are going to have to play dirty, just like the Democrats.
I don’t want to stoop to their level, but we may have no choice.
What do you think should be done to Pagliano? Can the Congress throw him in jail for contempt? How would you handle it? Share your opinions below in our comment section and don’t forget to share this article on social media.
