What a blessing for Tom Hanks to have had her this long. I lost my mom this January at the age of 96. I think because I have had her all of 62 years I miss her more. Not to lessen anyone else’s pain but you can’t imagine the rest of your life here on earth without them.
From Daily Mail:
Tom Hanks is mourning the loss of his beloved mother, Janet Marylyn Frager.
The 60-year-old actor revealed the news with a touching message on Instagram on Tuesday that his 84-year-old mother had passed away.
He shared an old portrait of his beautiful mother smiling as he captioned it: ‘This beauty? My mom. She was the difference in many lives. Many lives. We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossing, mom! Hanx.’
His followers were quick to comment and offer their condolences as one user wrote: ‘Sorry for your loss and so close to your birthday, Tom. Condolences.’
Another fan commented: ‘And we can thank her for all the lives made better by your peerless humanity. Millions and millions. She raised a fabulous son.’
Another said: ‘I see where u get ur good looks!! So sorry to hear she’s gone. My thoughts are with u & urs,’ whilst another wrote: ‘My deepest condolences to you and your family.’
The timing is bittersweet as Hanks just celebrated his 60th birthday on Saturday.
Hanks is a great actor who has done so much in the world of Hollywood and outside. Many are feeling the loss and hopefully time will heal all. Here is a poem I came across:
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am that swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.
~ Autumn Rain – Mary Frye, 1932
