Gun control has been a hot topic the past week with Obama giving a speech defending a forthcoming executive action, and holding a town hall event last Thursday to promote it.
One of the statistics he and Hillary Clinton have repeated is that there are over 30,000 gun deaths each year in America, a shocking number. But as is the case with most statistics, you have to do a little bit of digging to get to the bottom of things.
Let’s break down those 30,000+ firearm deaths and then ask if we really have a gun problem:
