Lauren Hill, a 19-year-old Lawrenceburg, Indiana native, with a rare form of cancer has died. Lauren’s story and her inspiring battle to play college basketball despite an inoperable brain tumor drew national attention.
After Lauren had been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) over a year and a half ago, Lauren exceeded her doctors’ expectations and lived well into 2015.
We are saddened to confirm that Lauren has passed away. Lauren wanted it to be known that DIPG didn’t beat her, but that she beat DIPG.

Prominent sports figures including NBA player Lebron James, were inspired by her fight to achieve her goal of suiting up for a college basketball team while her ability to live a normal life grew more difficult by the day.
Three weeks ago she spoke with ABC’s Cincinnati affiliate WCPO which turned out to be her last public interview. It is as difficult to watch as it is inspiring.
