Now that militia leader Ammon Bundy has been jailed, he issued orders for the remaining militia members who continue to occupy a federal building in an Oregon park.
I am pretty sure he had help coming to this decision. An attorney for Bundy, who is in custody facing federal conspiracy charges, released the following statement:
“I’m asking the federal government to allow the people at the refuge to go home without being prosecuted. To those at the refuge, I love you. Let us take this fight from here. Please stand down. Please stand down. Go home and hug your families.”
“It’s time for everybody in this illegal occupation to move on. There doesn’t have to be bloodshed in our community,” Harney County sheriff David Ward told reporters.
Earlier today, the FBI urged all media members to clear out from the area around the standoff, signaling to some that a raid on the compound could be imminent.
The following individuals were arrested last night during a traffic stop:
* Ammon Edward Bundy, age 40, of Emmett, Idaho
* Ryan C. Bundy, age 43, of Bunkerville, Nevada
* Brian Cavalier, age 44, of Bunkerville, Nevada
* Shawna Cox, age 59, Kanab, Utah
* Ryan Waylen Payne, age 32, of Anaconda, Montana
* Joseph Donald O’Shaughnessy, age 45, Cottonwood, Arizona
All of these individuals are facing charges of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation, or threats, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 372.
A spokesman for the Bundy and the militia members, LaVoy Finicum, was shot and killed by police during the incident.
