While Bill Maher is a liberal, the issue of Islam is one that gets him in trouble with his fellow liberals. Back in 2013, he replied to an Islamic apologist comparing Christian violence to Islamic violence by telling him to his face “that’s liberal bullshit.”
After the massacre in Orlando, Trump blasted Obama for appearing more aggravated with him than with the terrorist who committed the horrific attack. Maher had noticed the same thing.
“Here’s the one thing that Trump said this week that made a little sense to me. He said, ‘When I listened to Obama today and he sounded madder at me than the shooter.’ Couldn’t we just address the big elephant in the room, which is the shooter, before we go right to elephantphobia?” Maher asked on Friday’s edition of HBO’s Real Time
I watched President Obama today,” Trump said Tuesday. “And he was more angry at me than he was at the shooter and many people said that.”
Panelist Josh Barro tried to explain the logic behind not using the term ‘radical Islam.’
“The president’s reason for not using the term Islamic extremism is the idea is he doesn’t want to give in to ISIS’s frame where there is a war between Islam and the West,” Barro said. “He doesn’t want to set up this situation where 1.5 billion Muslims around the world feel the need to pick sides in a war with the West. The idea is to contain and destroy ISIS without letting them become representative.”
What do you guys think? Personally, I think that if Obama was as tough on terrorism as he is on guns we wouldn’t have seen an attack like we did in Orlando.
