Walter Palmer, the US dentist who became the subject of an online lynch mob earlier this year, has finally learned his fate after facing an enormous amount of criticism for killing a lion in Zimbabwe.
Due to online pressure, Zimbabwe officials had previously said they hoped to charge and extradite Palmer for an illegal hunt. However, it looks like that won’t be happening. After Zimbabwe completed their investigation, they found that the hunt was 100% legal, and Palmer had all of the proper licenses.
According to the BBC:
The environment minister had previously called for Mr. Palmer to be extradited and face prosecution. However, it appears that Mr. Palmer broke no laws when he killed the lion using a bow and arrow.
“We approached the police and then the Prosecutor General, and it turned out that [Walter] Palmer came to Zimbabwe because all the papers were in order,” Mrs. Muchinguru said.
What a mess this turned into for this guy. He did everything he was supposed to do and even the government for Zimbabwe says he did nothing wrong, but the man was still forced into hiding and was derided by the press and public. Meanwhile, during the same period of time, more than 150,000 babies were aborted – more than 99% of them not as a result of incest, rape, or other crime.
Well, so much for this big blow-up all about nothing! He did nothing wrong legally, so you people who are upset with this dentist need to let it go and get a life. And stop interfering with what other people choose to do in their free time! Don’t like big-game-hunting, fine, but don’t try to tell those who DO like it how they should feel about it. I am glad the dentist is exonerated!
