The President’s strategy appears to be letting the clock run out of his presidency rather than engage the enemy.
But, during a recent interview with the The Daily Beast, Special Operations Commanders issued a plea to President Obama.
Special operations troops who are currently assisting the Iraqis and Kurds who are fighting ISIS spoke with the website on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media on the mission. They expressed displeasure at the Obama administration’s strictly hands off policy in the region.
From the piece:
“We are doing everything through cellphones… It’s hard to do much when you can’t go outside the wire,” said one special operator, using the military jargon for the perimeter of a base.
“You can’t say ‘We’re with you every step of the way, except when you are going on combat operations,’” said a former senior special operations official briefed on the ISIS campaign.
Obama’s generals begged him to leave a stabilization force there to avoid exactly what happened but the narcissistic Obama thought he knew more than the generals and so he ignored their learned advice.
“It’s a generational thing,” said the officer, who said U.S. forces were similarly frustrated when training Nicaraguan forces in the 1980s. “Every few years, there is a place where the U.S. administration won’t let U.S. forces accompany those they’ve trained,” the officer said. “This younger generation has to get over it.”
The troops also said part of the problem is the administration’s intent on carrying out President Obama’s troop drawdowns in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even President Bush predicted that such a void would lead to the empowerment of ISIS and the holocaust that has and is taking place.
The fault for this lies cleanly with Obama and no amount of spin can change that.
The longer ISIS is allowed to fester the harder and more costly it will be to defeat it. This is on Obama. He’s responsible for the deaths of countless innocents that could have been spared had he stepped up.
