I guess the reason I support our boys in blue is because I served in the military and I know the dedication and sacrifice one needs to put your life on the line for others who don’t even care. But that’s the minority, as there are many civilians who love and support law enforcement just like I do.
Covington Police Chief Tim Lentz is a religious man who has seen the direction this country is moving. And he decided to do something about it.
This morning, we were humbled by the show of support from members of our community, elected officials, local business owners and other public agencies as we placed stickers on the backs of our police cars that read “In God We Trust”. The goal of displaying our national motto on our cars is to get back to where we once were, a time when the values this country was founded on meant something to the American people. A time when Americans took pride in what our country stood for.
Yesterday, Chief Lentz posted a message on our page explaining his reasons for taking this step and inviting the public to join us while we do so. When the time came this morning, we were joined by so many people of different races, religions and political beliefs, that came together in a statement of support for the values that make our nation the greatest place on earth.
It was truly an honor to be joined by our community, especially the children, who took time out of their school day to join us and help put stickers on the cars. If we can make a difference in even one child’s life, we have taken a giant step in achieving our goal.
Thank you to all who came, and those who weren’t able to come, but showed their support through social media, emails and phone calls.
We are humbled and proud to be able to serve ALL of the people that live, work and visit the City of Covington!
Chief Lentz has a beautiful heart, and his community will respect him for this. Sure they will be some bad seeds but for the most part, the men and women will support him and work with him to better the environment.
