Texas officials released video on Tuesday, of Sandra Bland being booked and processed after her arrest in an attempt to dispel rumors of mistreatment by jailers in the three days before she was found dead in her jail cell.
But there are still social media detractors who have already made up their minds — they would rather stick with conspiracy than truth.
I never believed that she was dead in her mugshot that was shared far and wide on social media, I thought that was a stretch. However, the details of her death were sketchy. But, that doesn’t automatically makes the cops guilty. And, I don’t blame the cops in her apparent suicide.
I read the comments of the girl that was in the cell across from her (taken with a grain of salt that another prisoner is credible) but she stated that Bland was deeply depressed about a friend that she had called several times for help with the bail. The friend kept promising her they were on their way for three days to bail her out but never showed up. Sounds like the friend let her down, not the system.
Let’s look at a few facts. People commit suicide in prison a lot. There is no way to prevent someone from killing themselves if that is their true intent. So, why is this one getting so much attention? Because the victim had black skin, that’s why.
