Policies from Washington in 2014: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

2014 was a big year for politics, with elections, resignations, and Supreme Court decisions galore. Here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly of Washington policies:

The Good: The Supreme Court ruled in favor of religious liberty.

the good

On June 30, the Supreme Court ruled that religious companies will not be forced to pay for contraceptives that are against their beliefs for employees in the Hobby Lobby case decision.

The Bad: Obama Bypasses Congress with Executive Amnesty.

the bad

As if it isn’t bad enough that the President is granting millions of illegal immigrants legal status, he completely went around the Constitution to do it. Never mind due process, creating a bill, and having it pass two houses of Congress before a law takes effect. Obama used his power of executive order to act like a king. He’s used to breaking the law, though.

The Ugly: Obamacare went into effect on January 1st, 2014.

the ugly

Beyond the horrific website launch, the so-called “Affordable Care Act” has sent some healthcare premiums skyrocketing as much as 78% – not to mention the thousands of healthcare plans that were canceled as a result of the law taking effect.

But don’t let the ugly get you down – remember that Conservatives took back control of the Senate on Election Day, November 4th.

What kind of policies do you want to see out of Washington in 2015?
