Hillary Clinton failed to condemn a slur against Israel at a campaign event in Columbia, South Carolina. The Washington Free Beacon reported that a woman asked the former Secretary of State about homelessness and prison overpopulation before then asking about Israel.
“My third question is about Israel, we spend too much money, $6 billion dollars to Israel to fund apartheid!” said the questioner, while a campaign staffer tried to stop her from continuing. “There is not the shared values that we are supposed to share with Israel.”
Clinton maintained a smile as the woman spoke. She said nothing to defend Israel from the charge of apartheid, rather she focused on criminal justice reform and homelessness.
Israel has not received a warm reception from the Obama Administration. President Obama’s campaign staff went to Israel in a failed attempt to oust Netanyahu in his recent election. The White House also snubbed the Prime Minister when he was here to address Congress in the spring. The President skipped the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. And of course the Iran deal has struck a blow to the security of Israel.
As a central part of the Obama Administration for many years, is Hillary continuing the theme of hostility towards Israel?
The mainstream media has been silent about Clinton’s failure to stand up for Israel. What do you think they would have said if a Republican hadn’t defended one of our closest allies from a slur? Please comment below.
