On New Years Eve 1972, a Vietnam veteran left his apartment to go on what he believed would be the final walk of his life, vowing to commit suicide when he returned. During his walk he met a woman who entered his life as quickly as she then exited. But the effect it had on his life is profound, and more than forty years later, this is what he wrote to her:
