Real Life Prison Escape Is So Close to Shawshank Redemption, You’ll Freak!

You’ll never believe how similar this Mexican kingpin’s escape from prison was to the hit movie Shawshank Redemption! Fox News reports on his daring escape over the weekend:

An all-out manhunt was underway in Mexico Sunday after the country’s most powerful drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman escaped from a maximum security prison through a 1 mile tunnel from a small opening in the shower area of his cell, the country’s top security official said.

The elaborate underground escape route, built allegedly without the detection of authorities, allowed Guzman to do what Mexican officials promised would never happen after his re-capture last year — slip out of one of the country’s most secure penitentiaries for the second time.

Unlike the movie, however, “El Chapo’s” tunnel wasn’t filled with disgusting sludge from the prison’s toilets, but instead was built with state of the art ventilation and even electricity. It was so elaborate, it even came built with a motorcycle track! Discussions are raging in the United States and in Mexico if they were built with the help of engineers and/or the help of prison authorities.

Mexican drug lords are familiar with the use of tunnels, many of which exist in order to funnel drugs, money and personnel into the United States during the drug war.

Comment below: If you were building a secret prison escape tunnel, what amenities would you include?

If you think for one minute that little man dug that tunnel through that rock in a year you are naive. He bought his way out of there and a professional crew cut that tunnel as a cover.
