Returning Military Dad Gets A Surprise That Melted Everyone’s Heart – Must Watch!

Fort Carson’s 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division returned home last year, and one soldier got a special welcome from his daughter that will melt your heart.

However, the young girl couldn’t wait until the ceremony to formally dismiss the soldiers. She ran out and gave her dad, 1st Lt. Daniel Oglesby, a hug while he was still standing with his fellow soldiers.

Karis Oglesby, Age 2, spotted her dad Daniel standing in formation during the middle of a homecoming ceremony in Colorado this past Tuesday, and made a beeline for him!

A video caught Karis scurrying across the gymnasium in her sparkling gold boots and red, white, and blue outfit. When she got to her dad, he bent down and gave her a hug before nudging her to teeter back over to her seat.

Oglesby added that his toddler’s impulsive run for a hug “was a pleasant surprise.”

“I had left in February, and we were close, but I wasn’t sure how much she would remember me and what her reaction would be when I came back,” he said. “I was so happy that she was excited to see me — so excited that she couldn’t even wait for the quick ceremony to be over first.”

The family will spend another week or two in Fort Carson, Colorado, where Daniel Oglesby is stationed, before heading back to their home in South Carolina.

“That’s the toughest part of the entire job is to be away from the family,” he said. “Having that reunion, it doesn’t make up for the lost time, but it’s definitely a sweet moment to finally be able to see them and embrace them again.”

Here is the video report:

This was one of those stories you love to see and must share to remind each other just how much family means to our servicemen and servicewomen who give their lives to protect this country.
