Robin Williams was special to many of us for making us feel deeply, whether it be laughing along with his comedy or aching after a moving speech. For one little girl, he shared a part of himself that her family will never forget.
In 2004, Robin visited Jessica Cole, who had just weeks to live because of a brain tumor, and was a huge Mrs. Doubtfire fan. Williams kept it under wraps because he didn’t want publicity.
Jessica’s father Mark Cole spoke out the day after he heard about Williams’ death.
“He acted like he had known her forever. He was a lot of fun to be with.” Cole said of Williams, who spent the day playing cards and watching football with Jessica. “Robin Williams was our hero.”
He made millions around the world smile including children fighting cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The comedian was a long-time advocate of St. Jude’s and took time out of his schedule to help out during holiday campaigns.
He will be missed.
