Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey hasn’t had the greatest month professionally, losing her title belt one month ago in stunning fashion to Holly Holm.
It could have been easy and understandable for her to curl up into a hole and disappear for a while.
Instead, one of the toughest women on the planet showed a softer side, attending a Marine Corps Ball with a man who made a viral video request that she join him.
In the video (seen below), Jarrod Haschert, a Marine based in North Carolina, told Rousey that “I love everything you do and I think you are a phenomenal person,” adding “it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball.”
Rousey responded that she “would totally go.”
Despite being a negative time in her career, Rousey followed through on her promise.

This story proves you don’t need a title belt to be a champion.
UFC superstar Ronda Rousey kept her promise and accompanied U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert to his Marine Corps Ball in South Carolina on Friday.
Haschert sent Rousey a message back in September asking if she would be his date, which quickly went viral, and Rousey agreed.
Following Rousey’s devastating knockout loss to Holly Holm last month, many wondered whether she would indeed follow through, but she kept her word and was there for Haschert and the other Marines.

Rousey posted a picture of the couple to Instagram:
Rousey’s team tried to keep her attendance at the ball quiet, but she thanked Haschert for being a complete gentleman and “putting a smile on my face again.”
It just goes to show that even one of the baddest women on the planet has a very good heart when it comes to our Marines.
