It is with great sadness that we report the death of yet another Hollywood star, who passed away too early. Sagan Lewis, known for her role in the long-running television show “St. Elsewhere” died at age 63 after a six-year battle with cancer.

From Fox News:

Lewis was a regular on St. Elsewhere for all six seasons, which ran from 1982 to 1988. She also appeared on “Homicide: Life on the Street” and one of the last episodes of “M*A*S*H.”

She was twice married to Tom Fontana, who wrote and produced for “St. Elsewhere” and”Homicide.” They were first married in 1982, having one son, Jade Scott Lewis, before divorcing in 1993. They remarried in 2015.

Lewis grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She had an MFA in acting from UC-San Diego, and she taught acting in Hawaii and Arizona. For seven years she was the program director of the Sedona International Film Festival.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lewis’ entire family during this trying time!
