So wait, Mississippi, last in job creation, last in graduation rates, first in teen pregnancy, and music superstar Bryan Adams thinks gays are the problem?
Can you believe these musical artists are placing this at the forefront when there are so many other subjects that affect everyday lives they could be championing?
Bruce Springsteen last week cancelled his North Carolina concert because he thinks transgenders should be able to use the bathroom that doesn’t correspond with their original plumbing.
Now legendary rocker Bryan Adams, from Canada, has decided he is not going to play in Mississippi because the state has chosen to do things their way.
From ABC News:
Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is canceling a performance this week in Mississippi, citing the state’s new law that allows religious groups and some private businesses to refuse service to gay couples.
Adams said in a statement Sunday night that he was canceling a show Thursday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.
The singer says he can’t “in good conscience” perform in a state where “certain people are being denied their civil rights due to their sexual orientation.”
The move comes after Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band canceled a Sunday show in Greensboro, North Carolina, because of the state’s new law blocking anti-discrimination rules for the LGBT community.
The Mississippi law will take effect July 1. Supporters say it offers protection for Christians who adhere to traditional views of marriage and gender roles.
Bryan, there is a problem with your ridiculous moral high ground. You are punishing your fans to show the world what a great, tolerant, “saint” you are. The people who would buy the tickets to your concert probably had no role in passing the law. Furthermore, you are a citizen of Canada. The laws in this country should be of no relevance to you unless they have a direct impact on your ability to put on your show.
I hope the children of this country will take heed to what is happening. If you are an average person with normal sexual interest, you are to be discriminated against. If you have thoughts and actions towards the same sex, you will be put above average folks. Something just doesn’t add up here.
