We’ve seen this dozens of times now, or so you think when this video first begins. Captive fighters somewhere in the Middle East, dressed in orange jumpsuits are paraded in front of the camera, waiting to be executed on tape. The Islamic State (ISIS) are barbarians, known for executing their political prisoners in the most brutal of ways, including burning captives alive in cages, pushing them off of high buildings, and decapitation.
What makes this video different from the rest, however, is the fact that the captives are actually ISIS fighters, and their “executioners” are Syrian rebels fighting to take back their country from the ongoing brutal civil war.
Until the moment of execution, the video might as well have been produced by the Islamic State. Music played in the background as prisoners kneeled down, ready to accept their deaths at the barrel of a gun. But then, something amazing happened. The would-be executioners put down their guns and stated “Muslims are not criminals.” The Times of Israel reports, “The masked rebels take off their balaclavas and walk away, making way for a Muslim preacher who tells the ISIS prisoners, “This is not our policy. We are not evil,” according to a translation in the Daily Mail.”
Since the Syrian Civil War began, over 3,000 individuals, over half of whom were civilians and dozens were Westerners, have met their deaths because of the Islamic State. Unlike the animals who have committed these atrocities in the name of Allah, these peaceful Muslims sent their prisoners packing to a jail cell instead.
Do you think this was the right way to handle these Islamic State (ISIS) fighters?
