You can’t please everybody all the time ladies and gentlemen. If you are a Donald Trump fan and you think the whole world is going to fall under the spell of this successful New York businessman you were living on the wrong planet. I support the presumptive GOP nominee, but I’m not under any spell that I can’t call out any of his problems which I would have done for any candidate that was nominated.
Author Stephen King and his group of friends have decided to pen an open letter to Americans voicing their opposition to the election of Trump, who defeated 16 other presidential candidates, Most of them well within the DC establishment that has hurt Americans over the years.
King is a Hollywood liberal so you don’t think he would have been on the side of any Republican candidate.
From The Guardian:
Pitched as an “open letter to our fellow Americans”, the statement sees the writers affirming their belief “that any democracy worthy of the name rests on pluralism, welcomes principled disagreement, and achieves consensus through reasoned debate”, and that “American history, despite periods of nativism and bigotry, has from the first been a grand experiment in bringing people of different backgrounds together, not pitting them against one another.”
They write “that knowledge, experience, flexibility, and historical awareness are indispensable in a leader”, and that “neither wealth nor celebrity qualifies anyone to speak for the United States, to lead its military, to maintain its alliances, or to represent its people.”
“Because the rise of a political candidate who deliberately appeals to the basest and most violent elements in society, which encourages aggression among his followers, shouts down opponents, intimidates dissenters, and denigrates women and minorities, demands, from each of us, an immediate and forceful response. For all these reasons, we, the undersigned, as a matter of conscience, oppose, unequivocally, the candidacy of Donald J Trump for the presidency of the United States,” the writers conclude.
Most of you that read my stories know that I support Trump and fixing this country by reversing this fundamental transformation by Barack Obama. Am I worried about Americans who voice their concerns and displeasure about a presidential candidate? The answer to that is no.
Everybody in their own time has to deal with their decisions, whether they be good or bad. I don’t expect liberal authors to come out and support a conservative or Republican candidate no matter who it is. This is just kabuki theater so that their friends can see that they publicly took a stand, almost like a ritual to remind liberals and Hollywood that they are part of the same team. And it is that team we are trying to defeat in the general election.
What do you think of King and his partners making a public spectacle like this? Do you think it will gain traction or fall by the wayside? Send us your comments below as I want to respond to you.
