From a conservative standpoint, Ted Cruz just may have received the most glowing endorsement one could possibly imagine. It came from a conservative media icon, and involved a comparison to one of the greatest presidents America has ever seen.
Talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, has previously claimed that Cruz is the one presidential candidate out of the bunch who is “most steadfastly opposed to liberalism.”
Today, he expanded on that a bit, saying “Ted Cruz … is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.”
Wow, that’s a hell of an endorsement.
Take a listen …
Via Rush Limbaugh:
Now, about Cruz and his being self-sufficient. There’s no question about that. Here, let me just say something right off the bat. And I’ve said this before. I opened the program with it yesterday. When I saw what Jeb and Kasich were doing in New Hampshire at the last minute in order to get votes…
They were going left as fast as Deion Sanders can backpedal. They were moving left faster than anybody I’ve ever seen go left. And I opened the program yesterday saying, “You will never, ever have to worry about that with Ted Cruz.” And then I expanded on it.
And let me say one thing: If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.
In terms of doctrinaire, understandable, articulated, implementable conservatism, there’s nobody closer.
In 2013, when Cruz spoke in opposition to Obamacare on the Senate Floor for 21 hours, Limbaugh said he was a ‘freedom fighter battling for the soul of his party.’
Comment: Do you agree with Rush that Cruz is the closest thing to Reagan that we’ve seen in our lifetime? If not, who else out there compares to the Gipper?
