This – this is the candidate conservatives love – a man with the combination of Donald Trump’s fiery attitude, and the measured reason and intellect of a Ben Carson.
Ted Cruz took to the Senate floor earlier today and did something that most politicians would never do publicly – he called out a fellow RINO Republican for lying to him.
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was the subject of Cruz’s ire, for setting up a reauthorization bill for the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Cruz, like many conservatives, oppose the bank’s reauthorization.
Cruz asked McConnell if he had struck a deal for the vote with Democrats:
We had a Senate Republican lunch where I stood up and I asked the majority leader very directly, what was the deal that was just cut on [trade] legislation, and was there a deal for the Export-Import Bank? It was a direct question. I asked the majority leader in front of all the Republican senators. The majority leader was visibly angry with me that I would ask such a question, and the majority leader looked at me and said, “There is no deal, there is no deal, there is no deal.”
Cruz noted that McConnell repeated the ‘no deal’ assertion three times, “like Saint Peter.”
And like Saint Peter, Cruz says, McConnell lied.
Via Business Insider:
In an impassioned speech on the Senate floor on Friday, Cruz railed against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), who he accused of lying to him about the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank.
“I cannot believe that he would tell a flat-out lie,” Cruz said.
“We now know that when the majority leader looks us in the eyes and makes an explicit commitment that he is willing to say things that he knows are false,” he added.
It’s an extraordinary accusation rarely levied in such public fashion. Senate rules also say that no senator “in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another senator or to other senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a senator.”
Somebody call a doctor for Mitch McConnell, because he just got absolutely annihilated!

Comment: Do you agree with Ted Cruz calling out the Majority Leader on the Senate Floor, or should it have been done privately?
