According to a Northern Virginia fire department, Eric Heffelmire was working on his car when the jack collapsed, pinning him on under the car and knocking causing a fuel spill, which ignited.
“[I] kind of came into the garage and the garage was already on fire and really from there I kind of snapped into that whatever super mode I had at that point and kind of do what I had to do,” 19-year-old Charlotte Heffelmire told reporters.
Charlotte walked into the garage to find it engulfed in flames and her dad pinned down, so she jumped into action, attempting to life the truck.
“I felt the weight shift, and I said, ‘You almost got it,’ and then it was just UGHHHHHHRRR, and suddenly I’m pulled out,” Eric told NBC Washington.
But that wasn’t all. The 5’6″, 120 pound girl then climbed into the truck, driving it out of the garage and away from the house despite only having 3 wheels attached.
She then closed the garage doors in an attempt to contain the fire before going back to the house and getting everyone to safety – including her sister’s infant child.
Charlotte suffered burns to both of her feet but will make a full recovery.
