Following Donald Trump’s controversial announcement that he would consider banning all Muslims from entering the United States, a petition in the United Kingdom called for the GOP frontrunner to be banned from entering into the country!
So far, the petition has garnered more than 150,000 signatures. CNN reports that the signatures are “more than enough for a committee to consider sending the motion for parliamentary debate”:
The petition to block the frontrunning Republican presidential candidate from entering the country was created on the British government’s official petitions website in response to Trump’s call Monday to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. due to the threat of terrorism…By midday Wednesday, the petition had gained more than 156,000 signatures, and the number was climbing rapidly. Any petition that gets more than 100,000 signatures is considered by Parliament’s Petitions Committee, which weighs whether to send the petition for debate by lawmakers in Parliament.
In the wake of the San Bernardino terrorist attack last week, does Trump have a point that we should reevaluate who we allow into this country or is he merely pandering to earn more support?
