This NBA LEGEND to the Black Community: Stop Looking for a Handout!

black community

NBA legend and superstar Karl Malone was asked by Huffington Post if Charles Barkley was wrong when Barkley blamed the African-American community itself for many of its own problems.

Malone’s response is probably not what they were expecting. WHOA!

I echo his sentiments exactly. We need to look in the mirror ourselves and stop waiting on someone to come march on our behalf. Take ownership ourself, make our community better and stop looking for a handout.

Malone eloquently described the role that community has played in riots, welfare, and the spread of poverty. His message is for self reliance and self-ownership, instead of looking for handouts in Obama’s America.

  1. I have a new respect for Charles – Karl is correct. Take ownership of your actions. I am so sick of the race card being played in these incidents. Thank you gentlemen.

I’m so glad to hear prominent black people speak out over these issues!
It seems that young black men are “running amok” leaving their babies mother having to go on welfare ( having their hand out ) because they need support. It starts at home and when that fails we get what we have now!
Life is tough but people of all backgrounds need to stop thinking they are soo persecuted!!
