Last night was a bloody night for police, and it’s continued into today.
The shooting in Dallas last night marked the largest loss of police life in the U.S. since 9/11. Two shootings of police in Georgia were just reported – and it’s hard not to speculate that they might be related.
A police officer has been shot in a suburb of St. Louis. KMOV-TV reports the officer was shot around 11:10 a.m.
The officer has been taken to local hospital. No other details have been made available.
And that’s not the only shooting in Georgia this morning.
In Georgia, authorities say a man opened fire on a police officer in Valdosta Friday morning.
The officer was wounded, as was the shooter.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman Scott Dutton says one of the shots hit the officer in the abdomen, just below his protective vest.
Other shots hit the officer’s vest.
Both men are expected to survive.
Whether or not these attacks were coordinated – or drew any inspiration from the Dallas shooters still remains unknown, as this story is developing. If more shooters like this are going to come out of the woodwork, let’s hope their aim is just as bad.
