HA! Venezuela Pulls a Donald Trump Move on CNN!

Donald Trump famously blasted CNN as “fake news” during his first press conference following his electoral victory. You can relive that triumphant moment below:

Trump has attacked CNN, claiming they’ve treated him with complete bias— and he’s right. CNN’s Chris Cuomo said it outright on the air: “We couldn’t help her [Hillary Clinton] any more than we have, she’s got just a free ride so far from the media, we’re the biggest ones promoting her campaign, so it had better happen.” Just three days ago, there were no fewer than 18 anti-Trump stories on the front page of the CNN website.

But President Trump isn’t the only world leader to call out the alleged news outlet.

Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro said he does not want CNN operating in his country anymore after the news network published a report that said officials in Venezuela’s embassy in Iraq have sold passports and visas to suspected terrorists.

“CNN, do not get into the affairs of Venezuelans,” Maduro said Sunday, according to a Fox News report. “I want CNN well away from here. Outside of Venezuela. Do not put your nose in Venezuela.”

CNN’s report, according to Fox, was aired on CNN en Espanol after a year-long investigation.

Freedom House, a nonprofit that advocates for press freedom around the globe, ranked Venezuela’s press freedom status in 2016 as “not free.”

He also claimed the news channel manipulated information about a student’s complaint regarding the lack of food at school. According to the Panama PostLast week, a student demanded on national television that the president improve the conditions of his school, asking for security, infrastructure and food so his classmates wouldn’t faint from hunger anymore. CNN en Español visited the high school and talked with the staff about the student, and whether Maduro had made any improvements since that incident only to discover he had not.

Ironically, while Trump is rightly criticizing CNN for misrepresenting him, Venezuela’s president is criticizing them for daring to report what’s going on in the socialist hellhole that is Venezuela.
