Bob Menendez, a ranking member on the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and New Jersey Democrat, blasted the administration’s talking points on Iran, saying they sound like they’re coming “straight out of Tehran.”
Menendez previously got into what was described as a “heated exchange” with the President, when Obama suggested that Democrats who were opposed to his Iran foreign policy were only doing so to appease their donors.
At a hearing this morning regarding Iran, Menendez ripped the President and his administration, essentially saying they were developing a strategy based on full-throttled capitulation to the Iranian regime’s wants and needs.
“The more I hear from the administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran,” Menendez said.
Take a look …
Menendez also added:
“And it feeds to the Iranian narrative of victimization, when they are the ones with original sin. An illicit nuclear weapons program going back over the course of 20 years, they’re unwilling to come clean on. So I don’t know why we feel compelled to make their case, when in fact… they get to cheat in a series of ways and we get to worry about their perceptions.”
You know it has to be bad foreign policy when even staunch Democrat supporters of the President are lambasting him for his reckless policies.
Is Menendez right? Is President Obama “mak(ing) their case” for them by spitting out talking points “straight out of Tehran?” Give us your opinion below.
