Yesterday the fine folks of Kentucky and Virginia went to the polls… and the Bluegrass State gave America an election upset by sending Tea Party conservative Matt Bevin to the Governor’s Mansion. He was five points behind Democratic favorite Jack Conway just before polling day, and most experts expected him to lose.
Greg Stumbo expected him to lose, too. He’s the Democratic Speaker of the House in Kentucky, and after his party got it’s clock cleaned last night, he mounted the stage to rally his weary troops.
Unfortunately for Greg, his speech didn’t go so well:
Yes, in this rambling, angry rant, Stumbo manages to reference football, the Bible, horse racing, and, oh yes, a few smears directed at the GOP. But he somehow fails to congratulate the newly-elected Governor. Weird, huh?
For my money (pun intended) Greg’s best line is:
“This wealth accumulation in America has got to stop.”
That rather sounds like something you’d hear from a North Korean communist, but nope, it came from the lips of a Democratic Party leader.
Many thanks to the indefatigable Mollie Hemmingway at The Federalist for finding this gem.
