You never know how contestants will react to judges on American Idol — just when you thought you’d seen everything, there’s a shocking response.
Maybe Quentin Alexander hasn’t watched previous seasons of American Idol to gain an idea of the judging process but his tantrum after his song was uncalled for.
Alexander had just given his first performance during American classic week and the soul singer’s opening challenge song was Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” Not pleased to hear Harry Connick Jr. tell him he was overshadowed by the backup band, Alexander was visibly upset by the comment, and when host Ryan Seacrest asked him what he was thinking, this is what he had to say.
“This sucks. We’ve got two of the best vocalists — my best friend is sitting over there,” Alexander says while pointing at Joey Cooke and Rayvon Owen sitting in the Bottom 2 chairs, knowing one of them will be eliminated by the end of the show. “This whole thing is whack, but I’m going to shut up right now.”
Social Media was abuzz after that awkward moment. Check out some of the comments:
